Gaiman is joy.

Of
course, he’s a dark, gritty, make you cringe while you enjoy kind of
joy, but joy nonetheless. This one features a death scene that made me
sob, a homeless woman with an irrational fear of dogs, a face nailed to
the wall in order to reanimate the dead, a child’s fantasy world come
to life, confused lesbians faced with pregnancy, genuine heroics and
pathos, and the best portrayal of a transvestite I think I’ve ever seen
in fiction.
